Six breweries from Minnesota stood out at the 2024 World Beer Cup, winning medals in various categories. These breweries showcased their world-class beers at the Craft Brewers Conference and BrewExpo America.

Bent Paddle Brewing Co. won a gold medal in the German-style Altbier category for its beer called Little Düssel Do-Ya. This beer also placed second in the German Ale category at the Minnesota Brewers Cup this year. Northbound Smokehouse & Brewpub took home a gold medal in the German-style Doppelbock or Eisbock category with their release of Doppelbock in December. Lupulin Brewing won a silver medal in the Dortmunder/Export or German-Style Oktoberfest category for their limited-release Dortmunder beer. Excelsior Brewing Company’s Big Island Citrus Blonde Ale earned a silver medal in the Fruit Beer category, a fruity twist on their popular Big Island Blonde Ale. BeerClub Brewing received a bronze medal in the German-Style Doppelbock or Eisbock category for their customer favorite Doppel Bock beer. Pryes Brewing Co. of Minneapolis won a bronze medal in the Mixed-Culture Brett Beer category with their Idyll Forest Soirée as part of their Mixed Fermentation program.

The World Beer Cup is the largest beer competition globally, with this year having 110 categories and 172 different beer styles judged by a panel of 280 judges from 37 countries. More than 9,300 entries from over 2,000 breweries across 50 nations were evaluated during the week-long event. The competition is organized by the Brewers Association, a nonprofit trade association supporting small and independent American craft brewers
