The Department of Global Health and Population is excited to announce its Global Health Week Symposium and Poster Day on Friday, April 26th from 1:30-5:00 pm. This event is open for registration and will feature a keynote address by Dr. Natalia Kanem, MD, MPH, the Executive Director of the UN Population Fund (UNFPA).

Global Health Week 2024 commemorates the 30th anniversary of the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) held in Cairo. The conference redefined population and development issues by emphasizing the importance of individual human rights, including gender equity, reproductive health, and rights. It highlighted that these factors must be central to population and development programs.

During this week-long event, there will be discussions on the progress and setbacks related to the ICPD as well as conversations on current and future priorities in global health. Topics that were not addressed in the Cairo conference, such as climate change and LGBTQIA+ issues, will also be explored during the event.

Stay tuned for updates on additional panel speakers and other events taking place during Global Health Week!
