In the wake of the sudden closures of Foxtrot and Dom’s Market, former employees are struggling to find new jobs. Many workers rallied for workers’ rights on Friday, suspecting that Outfox Hospitality, the parent company, may have violated the WARN Act. Despite this, Outfox Hospitality did not respond to requests for comment. On the Dom’s Market website, a message stated that the company had tried to explore different options to keep the business running without success.

The closures had negative ripple effects on other small and local businesses in Chicago. Corey Kaplan, owner of Corey’s Bagels, was one of those impacted. He had a close relationship with Dom’s Market, supplying them daily with bagels, cream cheese, and bagel chips. The sudden closure caught him by surprise when he discovered that the doors were locked without any prior notice.

Corey Kaplan explained how the closures impacted his business: “Dom’s was my largest account, and now I am facing financial losses of at least $10,000 with little hope of being paid.” The sudden closures have had a significant impact on many people in the community, causing uncertainty and financial strain.

Despite these challenges, Corey Kaplan remains optimistic about supporting local businesses in Chicago. He encourages people to visit brick-and-mortar shops like his own which have been part of the community for many years. By supporting local businesses customers can help mitigate the impact of these closures and ensure that our community continues to thrive.”
