Herc Rentals, a leading equipment rental company in North America, has acquired Rental Works of Maryland, an independent equipment rental company serving the Maryland, Washington D.C., and Northern Virginia markets in the US. This acquisition marks Herc Rentals’ continued growth and expansion into key metropolitan markets.

Rental Works of Maryland was founded in 2007 and operates four branches, serving customers in the region with a range of equipment rentals. The managing partner, David Graham, expressed excitement about the acquisition and highlighted the shared values between the two companies. “We are thrilled to be joining forces with Herc Rentals,” he said. “Their commitment to enhancing the customer experience and managing fleet efficiency aligns perfectly with our own values.”

Herc Rentals completed four acquisitions in the first quarter of 2024, opening 11 new locations and four greenfield locations. The company’s total fleet was valued at approximately $6.4 billion as of March 31, with an average fleet age of 47 months. Herc Rentals is focused on continuing to expand its network through acquisitions and greenfield locations in key metropolitan markets while also managing fleet efficiency and expenses to enhance the customer experience.

“We are making progress towards our key priorities for 2024,” said Larry Silber, president and CEO of Herc Rentals. “With over 400 locations across North America, we are well-positioned to continue our growth and expansion into new markets.” The acquisition of Rental Works of Maryland is expected to contribute to this growth by expanding Herc Rentals’ presence in the Maryland, Washington D.C., and Northern Virginia markets.
