West Virginia has received a boost in funding from various federal agencies to support several projects aimed at enhancing health services, economic development, infrastructure, academic and defense research, park improvement efforts, and energy projects across the state. U.S. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced the resources that will be allocated to these initiatives.

One of the grants announced is $1,799,114 in Health and Human Services Health Center Cluster funding for WomenCare, Inc., located in Scott Depot. This funding will help improve access to healthcare services for women in the area. Additionally, Valley Health Systems, Inc., also located in Huntington received $7,678,870 in HHS Health Center Cluster funding to improve healthcare services for residents of West Virginia. The Southwestern Community Action Council, Inc., also located in Huntington received $8,465,926 in HHS Head Start funding to support early childhood education programs for low-income children and families in the area.

Furthermore, Capito secured $500,000 in Appalachian Regional Commission funding for Marshall University’s Appalachian Cybersecurity Training
