Tommy Fleetwood’s caddie, Ian Finnis, underwent open-heart surgery this week and announced it on social media. Finnis had been recovering from his surgery and had not caddied for Fleetwood since the Valero Texas Open, just before the Masters. Fleetwood shared that Finnis has been unwell all year and is now at home focusing on treatment and recovery.

Fleetwood expressed his hope that Finnis will return to caddying again soon as they have a longstanding friendship that dates back to their teenage years in Southport, England. They have been working together since 2016 and have celebrated six DP World Tour victories together, including the Dubai Invitational in January. During Finnis’ absence, Fleetwood turned to Adrian Rietveld from TaylorMade and Gray Moore, who worked at Augusta National, to caddie for him at various tournaments.

Finnis took to Instagram to share the news of his successful open-heart surgery and expressed his gratitude to the NHS staff for their care and support. He also thanked everyone for their love and well wishes as he embarks on his road to recovery following the surgery. Fleetwood and Finnis have built a strong professional relationship, and their bond extends beyond the golf course, making Finnis’ recovery a top priority for Fleetwood.
