The NFL has announced that it will release the full 2024 schedule on May 15 at 8 p.m. ET, according to a report by Sports Business Journal’s Ben Fischer. Initially, teams had anticipated the schedule to be released next week as reported by PFT, but this was later delayed due to unspecified reasons. On Tuesday, teams received a memo from the NFL’s executive vice president of media distribution, Hans Schroeder, confirming the upcoming release date.

One possible explanation for the delay could be due to the league’s decision to schedule two games on Wednesday, December 25th despite earlier statements from Schroeder stating that there would be no games held on Christmas if it fell on a Tuesday or Wednesday. This required the league to select Christmas matchups, secure broadcast rights and coordinate the schedules of participating teams to also play on the preceding Saturday.

Despite this delay, fans can expect to see the full 2024 schedule soon although it may not be released as quickly as originally anticipated.
