On March 27, the Christian County Health Department will be hosting its Second Annual Food Safety Workshop. The event is open to anyone, including current food establishments or those interested in opening one. Registration is closing soon, so it’s important to sign up now.

The workshop will feature speakers from various county health departments and the Illinois Department of Public Health, discussing topics related to food safety. There will be two sessions held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., both taking place at the University of Illinois Extension Office in Taylorville. High-risk establishments attending the workshop will have the opportunity to waive their last inspection of the year if they are in good standing from previous inspections, which is an added incentive for them to attend this informative event.

Dr. Chad Anderson, the Christian County Public Health Administrator, emphasized that continuously learning how to best protect the public from foodborne illness is crucial in today’s world where food safety is paramount. He highlighted that this workshop provides a great opportunity for food establishments to enhance their knowledge, learn new policies, and strive for improvement while also supporting their educational journey as part of their commitment towards public health and safety.
