Jade Raymond, a BSc’98 graduate from McGill’s School of Computer Science, stood out as one of the few women in her program. After graduating, she became the only woman she knew in her year to pursue a career as a programmer in computer science. Raymond went on to become a trailblazer in the video game industry, playing a key role in creating the massive hit Assassin’s Creed, and helping establish studios for Ubisoft and Electronic Arts.

Throughout her career, Raymond has been passionate about encouraging women and young people to pursue their dreams. This has led her to establish a new undergraduate bursary at McGill’s School of Computer Science. The Jade Raymond Bursary for Women in Computer Science aims to support up to two female students each year who demonstrate financial need and academic excellence.

Raymond’s dedication to empowering women in the industry is evident in her commitment to creating opportunities for future generations of female computer scientists. The establishment of this bursary is just one of the ways in which she is working to make a difference in the field and inspire others to follow in her footsteps.
