The Charlotte Hornets have decided to shut down LaMelo Ball for the remainder of the season. This decision is not surprising given the team’s record of 18-54. Ball has been out of action since suffering a right ankle injury during a game against the Magic days after Thanksgiving. The injury occurred when he landed awkwardly after a play involving Paolo Banchero, which is the same ankle that Ball had surgery on towards the end of the previous season.

Prior to his injury, Ball was having one of the best seasons of his career, averaging 25.9 points and 8.6 assists per game, with a 3-point shooting percentage of 38.9%. Unfortunately, his season-ending injury has once again raised concerns about his ability to stay healthy and play consistently.

With Ball officially out for the rest of the season, there has been speculation about what may happen next for him and his future with the Hornets. Some within the league have suggested that Charlotte may explore trading Ball due to his injury history and large contract he is set to start next season. However, finding a suitable trade partner willing to meet Charlotte’s demands may prove challenging.

Meanwhile, rookie Brandon Miller has been making a name for himself this season as a key player for the Hornets. With Ball out of action, Miller will now have more opportunities to showcase his skills on court and potentially become more involved in team decision-making process. Nonetheless, it may take until next training camp for this process to fully unfold.

In conclusion, while LaMelo Ball’s injury has been tough blow for both him and Charlotte Hornets fans alike, it presents an opportunity for other players on the team to step up and show their potential as they navigate through their remaining games without their star player.
