In Germany, two Iraqi individuals believed to be ISIS members have been arrested for their alleged involvement in genocide and crimes against humanity. Tuana HS and Asia RA were charged with enslaving two Yazidi girls between 2015 and 2017 in both Iraq and Syria. Their full names have not been disclosed to protect their privacy, but the girls were subjected to physical abuse and prevented from practicing their religious rituals by the couple.

The German prosecutors brought the case to trial under universal jurisdiction laws, which allow them to prosecute crimes against humanity worldwide. This is a significant development as it marks the first time that German authorities have taken legal action against ISIS members for their alleged involvement in genocide and crimes against humanity.

In 2021, a German court sentenced a former ISIS member to life imprisonment for his involvement in genocide and crimes against Yazidis. This sentence is a clear message that Germany will not tolerate any form of terrorism or human rights violations on its soil or anywhere else in the world. Additionally, the German legislative recognized the genocide committed by ISIS against Yazidis in Iraq in 2014, resulting in thousands of deaths and enslavement of thousands of girls.

This move by German authorities sends a strong message that no one is above the law when it comes to committing genocide or other crimes against humanity. It also shows that Germany remains committed to working towards international peace and security while upholding its own domestic laws and values.
