Greensboro Startup Week was a huge success, according to leaders of Launch Greensboro, a division of the city’s Chamber of Commerce. The inaugural event took place from March 11-15, 2024 and aimed to help new business owners in the Triad region.

Throughout the week, various events were held including free information sessions led by local business owners and networking opportunities. Joey Cheek, the executive vice president of entrepreneurship at the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce played a key role in launching this annual initiative. He emphasized the importance of learning from others’ mistakes when starting a business, highlighting the value of the week’s programming.

One exciting aspect of the week was the Capital Connects pitch competition where new business owners from the Triad had the chance to compete for a $10,000 prize. Business partners Hayley Figueroa and Irma Marrero who started a gardening subscription box business called Dig praised the opportunities provided by events like this stating that they had met incredible people and found great opportunities for growth.

In 2023 North Carolina saw an impressive number of new businesses created with over 172,000 enterprises launched throughout the state. Furthermore, a report released by Wallet Hub ranked North Carolina as the ninth-best state in the country to start a business.
