On May 6, Amar Kovacevic pleaded guilty to two burglary charges and one theft charge. Initially facing charges of burglary, theft, unlawful vehicle entry, and refusal to halt in relation to the December 2023 burglaries, Kovacevic had been sentenced to 5 years in the Department of Corrections. However, due to receiving credit for the 137 days he had already spent behind bars, he will serve less than a year in prison.
After serving 1 year and 1 day, Kovacevic will be placed on 18 months of supervised probation. His accomplice, Jacob Iten, has several open cases related to burglary, theft, and drug possession. With over 20 counts across six court cases from December 2023 to May 2024, Iten was most recently charged with theft and burglary on May 7 in Cass County. There is currently a warrant out for his arrest.
