The State Bank of Israel has issued commemorative coins in honor of the 76th anniversary of Israel’s declaration of independence. The coins feature a slogan “Israel Together” and symbolize the unity that emerged after Black Saturday on October 7th. This is the first time that a coin design has been inspired by a war, specifically the War of Iron Swords, which brought both tragedy and national unity among Israelis.

The reverse side of the coins features a sketch by artist Tsvika Roitman that shows hands reaching out to each other against a backdrop of a kibbutz house and tractor. The number 76 is prominently displayed. On the obverse, there are inscriptions in Hebrew, English, and Arabic alongside a symbol created by artist Eitan Alon depicting six hands holding each other.

The coins are available in denominations of 10 shekels (jewelry gold), 2 shekels (jewelry silver), and 1 shekel (plain silver) and can be purchased from the State Coinage Company of Israel. This year’s edition serves as a tribute to the resilience, unity, and strength of the Israeli people in the face of adversity.

In conclusion, this year’s commemorative coins released by State Bank of Israel mark an important milestone for Israelis as they celebrate their 76th anniversary since declaring their independence. These coins symbolize not only their unity but also their strength during challenging times like war and adversity.
