The sequel to the Colombian telenovela that inspired ABC’s Ugly Betty, Betty la Fea, the Story Continues, will premiere on July 19 in over 240 countries and territories worldwide. Produced by RCN Estudios for Amazon Prime Video, the series will follow Beatriz Pinzón Solano 20 years after the original show as Betty navigates rebuilding her relationship with her daughter Mila and confronts challenges in her relationship with Armando.

Joining the cast for the new series are Rodrigo Candamil, Juanita Molin, Zharick León, and Sebastián Osorio. The series has been a global success since its debut in 180 countries and has been dubbed into 15 languages. It was also adapted in 28 territories, including India, South Africa, and the U.S., after its original run on RCN.

The original telenovela run was followed by a sequel series produced by RCN in 2001 and a spin-off titled Ugly Betty starring America Ferrera which ran for four seasons on ABC. Telemundo also produced their own version of the story in 2019 called Betty in NY.
