On Thursday, a powerful storm known as Storm Nelson continued its path towards Britain, bringing with it snow showers. The storm had already claimed lives in northern Spain, with four people reported dead by the AFP news agency. In the province of Asturias, two individuals tragically drowned in the sea, one in Muros del Nalón and the other in Cudillero. In southern Catalonia, Tarragona saw two more drownings in the sea.

The Spanish Meteorological Institute issued weather warnings for the Spanish coast and the Canary Islands due to dangerous waves and strong winds. The waves were expected to reach heights of up to 6-7 meters, and people were advised to stay away from rocky cliffs. In England, the waves from Storm Nelson were high at Brighton Pier, while in Spain, the wind was strong enough to blow a tourist’s umbrella upside down in Ronda.

Storm Nelson also affected parts of France with strong winds and high waves. As it moved towards Britain, snow was reported in northern parts of England and Wales. The storm was expected to cause chaos in Easter traffic in Britain as people tried to make their way home after the long weekend celebrations.
