The long-lasting strikes that have been happening for weeks have affected many entrepreneurs, including Sakari Laukkanen. As the owner of an advertising factory called Teippar in Kemi, Laukkanen has had to issue a layoff warning to all his staff. With layoffs expected next week, two or three out of eight employees will be affected.

The strikes, initially planned for two weeks, have now been extended to at least four weeks, causing disruptions in various industries. Laukkanen’s company, Mainostehdas Teippari, has experienced canceled orders and delays in material deliveries due to the strikes. This reminds Laukkanen of the challenges faced during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Construction delays have added to the challenges faced by Teippar. For instance, a shipment of new production equipment from Asia stuck in the port due to strike-related disruptions has caused further problems for Laukkanen and his company. He hopes for an end to the strikes and calls for all stakeholders, including employees, pensioners, unemployed individuals, and employers, to participate in discussions to address the economic impact of the strikes.

Laukkanen expresses concerns about the strikes becoming a power struggle and calls for industrial peace to find solutions that benefit everyone. He emphasizes the need for concrete suggestions from the employee side on how to handle the situation and hopes that the strikes will come to an end soon to avoid further layoffs.

In conclusion, Sakari Laukkanen is concerned about the participation of everyone in savings talks as he fears that long-lasting strikes can disrupt various industries and affect businesses like his own. He hopes that all stakeholders work together towards finding solutions that benefit everyone while avoiding power struggles between employees and employers.
