A United Airlines flight that was bound for Seattle had to divert to Dallas after a passenger’s dog reportedly pooped in the aisle of the plane. The incident occurred on Flight 422, which left Houston less than an hour after takeoff. Data from Flightradar24 shows the Boeing 737 diverting due to this reason.

According to a Reddit user who witnessed the incident, the ground crew spent over two hours attempting to clean the carpet with paper towels, but the smell remained. This user also mentioned that the area near the first-class toilet was deemed unusable after the incident occurred, resulting in food on board going bad.

United Airlines confirmed the incident when contacted by Business Insider. This latest occurrence follows a similar event on a Delta Air Lines flight last September when a passenger appeared to poop in the aisle, leading to the flight turning around. The latest incident raises questions about airlines’ pet policies as United Airlines only allows service animals in the cabin without a carrier while dogs must be in suitable carriers that fit under seats for domestic flights. Passengers traveling with pets are advised to bring toys to keep them calm and plastic bags for any bathroom emergencies.

This incident highlights how important it is for passengers traveling with pets to be aware of their pet’s behavior and take necessary precautions before embarking on their journey.
