The New Orleans Saints have signed talented defensive end Chase Young to a one-year, $13 million deal, just a day after the news broke that he will undergo a neck procedure that will prevent him from participating in training camp. Despite this setback, the Saints are optimistic that Young will be ready to play by the start of the season.

Young had a standout rookie year with the Washington Redskins in 2019, where he amassed 44 tackles, 7.5 sacks, four passes defended, and four forced fumbles in just 15 games. However, injuries have plagued him over the past few seasons. After being traded to the San Francisco 49ers last season, Young managed to record 2.5 sacks in eight games despite his recent setbacks. Over the last three seasons, he has a total of 56 tackles, nine sacks, and five pass deflections in 28 games.

The Saints were aware of Young’s injury before signing him on Monday and are confident that he will return to form once healthy again. Young’s future in the league hinges on his ability to recover from his recent procedure and maintain his health while continuing to perform at a high level on the field. His potential was evident when he made a significant impact during Super Bowl LVIII game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Ultimately, it will be crucial for Young to stay healthy and demonstrate his skills in order to secure big deals and success in the future with new team like Saints.
