The weekend was a busy one for the various Cal sports teams, with impressive performances across different competitions. The men’s golf team finished second at the Pac-12 championships in Arizona, with Ethan Fang, Sampson Zheng, and Eric Lee placing in the top-13 individually. This was the best finish for the Bears since 2016 and raised hopes of earning a bid to the NCAA regionals in May.

In another achievement, the women’s water polo team secured a runner-up spot at the MPSF championships after advancing to the title game for the first time since 2011. Standout players like Rozanne Voorvelt and Mary Dempsey made significant contributions with their goal-scoring. The Bears will now host the NCAA Championships at their Spieker Aquatics Complex for the first time.

Meanwhile, the beach volleyball team earned a spot in the NCAA championships for the third consecutive year, securing a program-best No. 7 seed. They will face Long Beach State in the first round, looking to repeat their victory over them from last year’s tournament. With six Pac-12 teams in the NCAA field, including top-seeded USC aiming for a fourth consecutive national title, competition promises to be fierce.
