The Cowboys have signed running back Royce Freeman to their roster on a one-year deal, according to Todd Archer of ESPN. This move comes as Dallas is still expected to draft a running back next week following the loss of Tony Pollard. With Freeman’s addition, he joins Rico Dowdle, Deuce Vaughn, Malik Davis, and Snoop Conner on the depth chart.

In his last season with the Rams, Freeman rushed for 319 yards and two touchdowns on 77 carries. Over the past four seasons, he has played for four different teams – Denver, Carolina, Houston, and Los Angeles – since being drafted by the Broncos in 2018. His best season came as a rookie when he had 521 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 130 carries. In his second season, he had a career-high 175 touches for a total of 752 yards from scrimmage.

Freeman’s impressive performance over the past four seasons includes recording 209 carries for 775 yards and two touchdowns, along with 29 receptions for 204 yards. He is the second free agent signed by the Cowboys this offseason, with linebacker Eric Kendricks being the other new addition.
