This week, the Courier Journal has showcased the talent of some of the best high school athletes in softball and lacrosse. The nominees for the girls athlete of the week are now up for a vote, with the poll closing at 6 p.m. on Thursday and the winner set to be announced on Friday. First, let’s take a look at Aubrey Batts from Oldham County High School. She had an impressive week, hitting four times, including two home runs, seven RBIs, and stealing a base in victories against Assumption, Eastern, and Great Crossing. Another standout player is Kadie Bosemer from North Oldham High School who also had a standout week with three hits, two home runs, and four RBIs in wins over South Oldham, Trimble County, and Simon Kenton.

Moving on to lacrosse, Christian Academy senior Bree Emerson scored seven goals and had one groundball in her team’s win over North Oldham High School. Mercy junior Caillin Heintz contributed four goals and three assists in a 13-7 win over Atherton High School. Eva Hidrogo from Portland Christian High School recorded three wins and 39 strikeouts while also hitting five times with three RBIs in games against LKY-Louisville Home School, Central High School and Cornerstone Christian High School.
