The Clarksville-area high school athlete of the week for the second week of the spring sports season is up for a vote. This article highlights some of the standout performances by athletes from different schools in the area, making it a tough decision to pick just one winner for this week’s honors.

The nominees for this week include Alexa Bertelsmann from Clarksville Academy, Talia Brandt from West Creek, Haylie Brooks from Houston County, Shaniya Davis from Northeast, Addie Fitzhugh from Stewart County, Kayleigh Hagewood from Kirkwood, Amar’e Moore from Fort Campbell, Charis Nichols from Clarksville, Kaylee Phillips from Montgomery Central, and Avery Rauscher from Rossview.

Alexa Bertelsmann had an impressive week in softball, batting .545 with five RBIs, three doubles, three runs scored, and two stolen bases. Talia Brandt excelled with three home runs, eight RBIs, and four runs scored in a single game. Haylie Brooks pitched a complete game two-hitter with 12 strikeouts and also contributed offensively with a double and an RBI. Shaniya Davis won the triple jump at a track and field meet and placed seventh in the 400-meter dash.

Other standout performances included Addie Fitzhugh’s two games with multiple RBIs, Kayleigh Hagewood’s four RBIs in a single game
