On Wednesday, US President Joe Biden signed a legal package primarily intended for military aid to Ukraine and Israel. However, his actions did not go unnoticed by China, which responded on Monday by indicating that it might respond to the new law that strengthens Taiwan’s defense and requires the Chinese owner of TikTok to sell it.

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Lin Jian urged the US not to implement the “negative” aspects of the law that involve China. He warned that if the US sticks to its decision, China will take decisive steps to protect its security and development interests. The Taiwanese government welcomed the new American law, stating that it would help maintain security in the region.

These recent developments highlight the escalating tensions between the US and China, particularly concerning issues relating to Taiwan and technology ownership. The geopolitical implications of these moves could further complicate an already strained relationship between the two global powers, leading to heightened uncertainty and geopolitical instability.
