The 2024 Science & Technology Fair at Chatham Middle School was a huge success, with students in grades six through eight showcasing their projects in the gym. Each grade had a winner, including Miles Schuster from 6th grade who investigated the impact of outside temperature on solar panels, Jack Galvin from 7th grade who explored the energy levels of different fruits and vegetables, and Lucy Tassinari and Logan Van Wie from 8th grade who tested different heat protectants.

The fair required students to develop a hypothesis or technical problem and then use either the Scientific Method or Problem Solving Method to prove or disprove their theory or find a solution. Judging took place during the school day, with faculty members from the high school and middle school science and technology departments evaluating the projects. Classes also had the opportunity to view the projects.

The fair was open to the public in the evening, allowing parents and community members to see the students’ hard work. The winners were announced at the end of the event, with Jack Galvin, Miles Schuster, Lucy Tassinari, and Logan Van Wie being recognized for their outstanding projects. This event provided an opportunity for students to showcase their scientific and technical skills, fostering a love for STEM subjects at Chatham Middle School.
