Steward Health Care has temporarily closed the cancer treatment unit at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, Massachusetts due to the suspension of infusion services by SMG Regional Hematology-Oncology. The closure is a result of the departure of the unit’s physician. However, the radiation oncology and surgical oncology units are still open, and only outpatient services are affected. Inpatient infusion services remain unaffected by the closure.

The Department of Public Health is now referring patients to other hospitals for cancer treatment services as a result of the closure. This situation raises concerns about Steward Health Care’s financial crisis, which is currently unfolding. As more details emerge, updates will be provided by 7NEWS on-air and online.
