Donna Vidrine, a resident of Iota, has been struggling with water issues in her home for the past six months. The ongoing problem has left her frustrated and concerned about the impact it is having on her health. She shared her concerns about the water staining her toilets, tubs, and causing a foul smell that gives her headaches. Additionally, Donna mentioned that the water causes problems with her skin after showers, leading to itching and burning sensations that disrupt her sleep.
Messages exchanged between Donna and other residents on April 8th revealed their shared frustration with the water quality. One neighbor reported that the water was yellow and had a rust-like smell after their shower. This has led Donna to spend money on items like whole house filters, doctor visits, and medicines in an effort to protect her health from what she believes is unsafe water conditions.
In response to the water issues, Iota Mayor Cody Leckelt stated that a project update a year ago may have caused problems on the south side of town, resulting in discolored water in certain areas. The town is currently flushing fire hydrants to address the problem, and the Department of Health and Hospitals has confirmed that water samples taken in the area are within normal limits. Mayor Leckelt encouraged residents experiencing water problems to contact town hall for assistance.
