Butte College has completed the construction of its new 72,276-square-foot science building. The final beam was placed at the construction site in Butte Valley on Wednesday, marking an important milestone in the project. The campus community gathered to sign the beam and celebrate this achievement.

Construction of the building began in April 2023, with an expected opening in fall 2025. The new facility will offer classes in various disciplines, including science, technology, engineering, mathematics, construction management, nursing, allied health, and general education in the sciences. This state-of-the-art facility is funded by Measure J, a $190 million bond measure approved by voters in November 2016 and the state’s Physical Plant and Instructional Support Block Grant.

The addition of this new science building is an exciting development for Butte College and will significantly enhance the educational experience for students in STEM and healthcare fields. The building will provide state-of-the-art facilities for students to learn and conduct research while also serving as a hub for collaboration and innovation. With its modern amenities and advanced technology, the new science building is set to become a cornerstone of academic excellence at Butte College for years to come.
