Jim Lowe, from the U of I’s College of Veterinary Medicine, is leading the charge in exploring innovative solutions. The goal is to adapt existing healthcare practices to better serve the veterinary community, and they are considering various technologies such as sensors, telehealth, and artificial intelligence to improve veterinary care.
This project is a collaborative effort within the University, with engineers being an integral part of the team. A generous donor has provided significant support to advance this initiative. Despite challenges related to regulations around supervision and the roles of technicians and veterinary nurses in providing care, the team at the University of Illinois is committed to finding solutions that will help bridge the gap in veterinary care for rural communities.
