Black Maternal Health Week, which takes place from April 11th – 17th, is dedicated to raising awareness and taking action to improve the health outcomes of Black mothers. This week coincides with National Minority Health Month and is organized by the Black Mamas Matter Alliance. The goal of this week is to educate the community, promote activism, and amplify the voices and experiences of Black mothers and birthing individuals.

As part of the Black Maternal Health week celebrations, several organizations are coming together to host a conference on April 16, 2024 at Worcester City Hall. The Worcester Division of Public Health, in partnership with UMASS, UHAI for Health, and the Massachusetts Organization of African Descendants (MOAD), will be hosting this event. The conference will take place at Levi Lincoln Hall on the 3rd floor from 9:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M.

The conference aims to bring attention to the disparities faced by Black mothers in accessing quality healthcare and the systemic barriers that contribute to poor maternal health outcomes. By fostering dialogue and collaboration among professionals and community members, the event seeks to drive positive change and improve the well-being of Black mothers in Worcester. The conference will feature speakers and a panel discussion with local experts who will address these important issues surrounding Black Maternal Health in the Worcester community.
