Investors are showing interest in funding projects related to high-tech agriculture, the green economy, and logistics in the Central Highlands region. However, they have also highlighted the need for increased processing capacity and infrastructure in the area to support these projects. The Central Highlands, which consists of 5 provinces – Lam Dong, Dak Nong, Dak Lak, Gia Lai, and Kon Tum – is known for its potential in developing agricultural raw materials, medicinal materials, eco-tourism, and minerals.
Despite its potential, the region faces challenges such as the lack of an agricultural database system and infrastructure connecting it to major cities like Ho Chi Minh City. Cooperation between the Central Highlands and urban areas like Ho Chi Minh City was suggested at a conference held on April 4 to address issues related to preservation and processing capacity as well as building a shared agricultural database to coordinate the supply chain.
In addition to agriculture and logistics, investors also expressed interest in tourism and the green economy in the Central Highlands region. With rich forest resources and a significant forest coverage percentage, the region has the potential to capitalize on the carbon credit market. Projects focusing on forestry production from agricultural by-products were highlighted as opportunities for investment.
Local authorities in the region presented investment opportunities in eco-tourism, high-tech agriculture, urban infrastructure trade services with plans to attract nearly 82 billion VND in capital.
