Beijing has vowed to support any initiative aimed at strengthening the position of the Palestinian Authority and promoting dialogue between it and other factions, including Hamas. The Palestinian Authority controls the West Bank, while Hamas governs Gaza, and they have been at odds for years over the formation of a unity government. Tensions have escalated during recent conflicts, particularly between Israel and Hamas.

In response to calls from the US to revitalize the Palestinian government structure, President Mahmoud Abbas has reshuffled his cabinet. China has pledged its support for strengthening the Palestinian National Authority and promoting reconciliation among all Palestinian factions. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has stated that recognition of Palestine would correct a historical injustice and should not depend on Israeli-Palestinian negotiations but rather pave the way for a two-state solution.

China’s commitment to peace and stability in the region is reflected in its support for the Palestinian Authority and all factions in achieving an independent state. By offering to facilitate conversations and support reconciliation efforts, Beijing aims to play a constructive role in resolving the longstanding conflict between Israel and Palestine.
