On Monday, the Dallas Mavericks made the announcement that they had extended the contract of head coach Jason Kidd for multiple years. Despite not disclosing specific details, owner Patrick Dumont expressed excitement about having Kidd continue to lead the team in the future.

Kidd, who is 51 years old, has been with the Mavericks for three seasons now. In his first year as head coach, he led the team to the playoffs. However, they missed out on postseason the next year and then guided them to a 50-32 record this season, securing a No. 5 seeding. Recently, they eliminated the Los Angeles Clippers in Round 1 of the playoffs, setting up a matchup with the Oklahoma City Thunder in Round 2.

General manager Nico Harrison expressed confidence in Kidd’s ability to continue leading the team to success in the future. He praised Kidd’s experience, expertise and respect he has earned from players and others in league. The Mavericks front office believes that Kidd’s leadership will be vital as they face a tough challenge in Round 2 of playoffs.
