The Azalea Sprinter Excursion train has had a significant impact on the economic development of Valdosta, Tifton, Nashville, Douglas, Willacoochee, and surrounding areas. Over the past few years, it has brought in over $1.4 million in revenue. In Nashville specifically, the train has led to the growth and expansion of the city’s farmers market, attracting over 4,000 visitors in 2023.

According to Christopher Parott, co-CEO of CaterParott Railnet, the train offers more than just economic benefits; it also provides a unique and memorable experience for passengers. The success of the train excursion has spurred the city to invest in the development of a train depot, making the Azalea Sprinter more accessible and adding to the attractions in Nashville.

Nashville city leaders are optimistic about the potential for growth and development with the new train depot. Hayden Hancock, Nashville city manager, mentioned plans for a revitalized downtown area that will complement the depot and farmers market. Green spaces and walkways are being planned to enhance this area’s appeal.

Construction on the train depot is set to begin by mid-April and is expected to be completed within the next three months.
