A recent study by Morning Consult revealed that 40% of Latina mothers in the USA prefer cell phones or Smart Watches as gifts for Mother’s Day, which is double the preference of the rest of Americans. Electronics have surpassed jewelry and clothing as popular gifts for this demographic, with flowers remaining the top gift choice.

Verizon’s report also highlights the strong bond between Latin adult women and their mothers, with three out of every four communicating with their maternal figure at least once a week. This is in comparison to American adults who tend to communicate less frequently with their mothers.

Latino mothers are more likely to put off purchasing new smartphone models, making them a target for Verizon’s promotions and offers during Mother’s Day. They tend to use their phones for taking photos, staying in touch with family, and video calls, highlighting the need for fast data networks.

In addition to this, Hispanics in the US tend to pay more tribute to maternal figures such as sisters, grandmothers or aunts on Mother’s Day compared to Americans in general. Verizon conducted a survey that included national samples of Americans, Latinos in the US, and American Latina mothers and caregivers.

Verizon’s vice president of Local and Segment Marketing, Robyn Parks emphasizes the importance of technology in connecting mothers with their loved ones and offering families the ability to choose the technology and services that are most important to them. Phone companies like Verizon are capitalizing on the significance of Mother’s Day in the Latin community by promoting discounts on new smartphone models such as iPhone 15 and Galaxy S24 +.
