Austrian Airlines staff ended their 36-hour strike on Good Friday, with operations gradually being ramped up after numerous outages on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. The first flights will take off from Vienna with delays expected. However, the dispute between AUA management and on-board staff remains unresolved, with the union calling for wage adjustments to match those of the Lufthansa Group, a demand that the company has not agreed to.

The strike led to the cancellation of 400 flights, affecting Vienna Airport and some federal state airports, resulting in 50,000 passengers not reaching their destinations as planned. The ongoing dispute between the parties has led to cancellations of hundreds of flights, with uncertainty lingering over the outcome.

The union criticized the German side for making threats instead of engaging in further talks, with the possibility of another strike not being ruled out. Despite this, there is a willingness to continue discussions with AUA management to find a mutually beneficial solution for employees.

Despite the challenges faced by both sides, there is hope that they can reach a fair and equal treatment for Austrian employees within the Lufthansa Group through dialogue and negotiations. However, if negotiations fail or are not held in good faith, it is possible that we may see further disruptions and strikes in the future.

The workforce is planning another works meeting on April 4th which could lead to further disruptions and highlighting ongoing tensions between both sides.

In conclusion, while Austrian Airlines staff ended their strike on Good Friday, the dispute continues between them and management over wages adjustments. Further discussions are needed to find a mutually beneficial solution for employees while avoiding any future disruptions or strikes.
