Sunday’s sports action was marked by several standout performances in various sports. In baseball, Bishop McCort emerged victorious over Conemaugh Township 5-0 in the championship game of the Gene Schultz Memorial Tournament, despite Zack Petree’s impressive three-hit performance for Conemaugh Township. Meanwhile, in softball, Meyersdale cruised to an 18-3 victory over Blacklick Valley, with Jessica Daughton and Marcella Dupre leading the way with three hits and three RBIs each.
In track and field, Berlin Brothersvalley had a mixed day against Everett, with the girls winning 98-50 and the boys falling 119-30. Multiple athletes from Berlin had standout performances, including Mikaela Glessner, Deborah Bozovich, Zoraeja Miller, Lexi Fairman, Lexi Foor, and Addisyn Glessner. Connor Montgomery also won the pole vault for the boys.
On Monday in baseball action Windber dominated Portage with a dominant performance beating them 16-0 in just four innings. Andrew Scalia led the way with two hits including a grand slam and four RBIs while Lucas Oleksa contributed to Windber’s success with two hits including a 3-run home run and four RBIs. Cole Mash drove in a pair of runs while Lucas Rummel also drove in a pair of runs and Dawson Himes earned the win on the mound. In another game Blacklick Valley defeated Meyersdale 2-1 with Karter Schurg providing a hit and an RBI for Meyersdale.
