Apple is set to launch new iPad models in May, and one of the most anticipated releases is the 12.9-inch iPad Air. According to Ross Young from DSCC, this larger iPad Air model will feature MiniLED display technology, just like the current 12.9-inch iPad Pro. The use of MiniLED technology not only offers improved power efficiency but also produces enhanced contrast ratio, making it ideal for video viewing. Unlike LED-backlit LCD panels which struggle to produce true blacks, MiniLED displays come much closer without the drawbacks of OLED panels such as cost and brightness tradeoffs.

The 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models are also expected to switch to OLED screens for the first time this year, following in the footsteps of devices like the iPhone and Apple Watch. While OLED displays offer superior picture quality and can produce deep blacks, they are more expensive than LCD panels.

The pricing of the 12.9-inch iPad Air is yet to be revealed, but it is positioned as an ideal device for media consumption. With its larger screen size and advanced display technology, it’s sure to be a hit among users who require a powerful tablet for work or entertainment.

Apple has been known for its innovative approach to technology, and with these new iPad models set to launch soon, we can expect some exciting advancements that will redefine what tablets can do.
