Curiosity is currently investigating a modification zone around a fissure, with the main focus on a “mini-start hole” to ensure safety before drilling begins. The target for drilling, named “Pilgrim,” is located in the center of a Mastcam image. The team has put together a detailed plan for tomorrow that includes using MAHLI to capture images of “Pilgrim” before and after drilling, as well as placing APXS over the target for overnight analysis. In addition, measurements from DAN, RAD, and REMS will be taken.

Despite challenges with data volume and power constraints, the team managed to come up with a comprehensive plan for the day. Tomorrow, I will be serving as the GSTL and it is expected that there will be a science block allowing for further characterization of the target using Mastcam and ChemCam.
