The Alliance Theatre in Atlanta is set to host the world premiere of Adam Guettel’s long-awaited musical “Millions” as part of their 2024-2025 season. Based on the novel and film by Frank Cottrell Boyce, the story follows two brothers who discover a duffel bag of cash while grieving the loss of their mother. With a book by Bob Martin and music and lyrics by Guettel, the production will reunite Guettel with director Bartlett Sher, who previously worked together on “The Light in the Piazza.” Performances are scheduled to run from May 10 to June 15, 2025.

In addition to “Millions,” the Alliance Theatre’s upcoming season will feature several world premieres. Milo Cramer’s “Business Ideas” will be directed by Matt Torney and run from November 16 to December 15, 2024. Zora Howard’s “Bust,” a co-production with Chicago’s Goodman Theatre, will be directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz and perform from February 13 to March 16, 2025. Jake Brasch’s “The Reservoir,” a co-production with the Denver Center for the Performing Arts and Geffen Playhouse, will be directed by Shelley Butler and run from March 29 to May 4, 2025.

The season will also include new stagings of Katori Hall’s “The Mountaintop,” directed by Tinashe Kajese-Bolden, from August 30 to September 22, and Lloyd Suh’s “The Chinese Lady,” running from September 18 to October 13.
