Canada’s para ice hockey team began the world championship tournament with a dominant 19-0 victory over Japan. The game was led by Dominic Cozzolino, who scored four goals and had four assists. Tyler McGregor and Liam Hickey also contributed three goals each, while Adam Kingsmill made just one save in goal.

Other players on the Canadian team who contributed to their victory included Adam Dixon with a hat trick, Anton Jacobs-Webb with two goals, Corbyn Smith, Micah Kovacevich, Vincent Boily, and Auren Halbert with one goal each. Canada was successful on the power play, scoring once out of two attempts.

Japan’s goalie, Wataru Horie struggled during the game and allowed 18 goals on 40 shots through two periods. Manabu Okabe took over as goalie in the third period and managed to stop eight of the nine shots he faced.

Canada will next face Italy in their next game in the preliminary round of the championship. Their dominant performance sets a strong tone for their continued success in the tournament.
