Nine years of infertility and multiple failed IVF attempts had left Hien and her husband in Ho Chi Minh City feeling hopeless. However, they were determined to have a child in the year of the Dragon.

Hien, 43 years old, suffered from various gynecological issues and was postmenopausal when they sought treatment at IVF Tam Anh Hospital in early February. Facing financial difficulties and previous failed attempts, the couple decided to ask Hien’s younger sister, who was in good reproductive health, to donate eggs for the IVF procedure. The sister had a high ovarian reserve index and was able to produce 10 quality eggs, which resulted in 6 good quality embryos after fertilization.

With the embryo transfer conducted in early March, Hien was hopeful to conceive and give birth within the year of the Dragon. Dr. Ngo Dinh Trieu Vy and his team at IVF Tam Anh were able to successfully perform the procedure, providing hope for Hien and her husband to finally have a child.

The World Health Organization has reported an increasing rate of infertility globally, prompting more couples to seek assisted reproductive methods like IVF. Egg donation has become a viable option for many couples facing infertility, and IVF Tam Anh in Ho Chi Minh City has seen success in using donated eggs for elderly women with depleted ovaries.

Dr. Vy emphasizes the importance of egg donors meeting specific criteria to ensure successful IVF outcomes. It is recommended that couples struggling with infertility seek early treatment and comprehensive reproductive health examinations to explore all options for conception.
