The “Be Healthy Bash” is a summer kickoff event hosted by UK HealthCare, taking place on June 8th at the Fayette County Extension Office in Lexington. This festival focuses on overall well-being, offering a variety of activities and information related to nutrition, fitness, and emotional wellness.

The event features health screenings, wellness resources, free food, vaccinations, cooking demonstrations, taste testing, emotional wellness activities, physical activities, games, inflatables for both kids and adults, a petting zoo, safety education, a smoothie bike, a meet and greet with UK’s mascot Wally Cat, live music and more.

Dr. Kristen Stakelin from the Barnstable Brown Diabetes Center explains that the event was originally created to promote healthy eating and physical activity but has since expanded to offer a wide range of health and wellness services beyond the original vision.

The “Be Healthy Bash” is a collaborative effort presented by UK HealthCare, University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service, the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government and the Fayette County Extension Office along with many other partners. Trudi Matthews from UK HealthCare’s chief of Value-Based Programs Public Policy Community Initiatives emphasizes that the event showcases UK’s commitment to promoting healthy living in the community.

Attendance at the “Be Healthy Bash” is free and open to the public upon arrival attendees can check in at the registration table to receive Farmers’ Market vegetable vouchers. For more information and a list of tabling partners visit the event website.
