Kilmacolm Primary school hosted a day of scientific exploration, where pupils and parents came together to build their own “Wonder of the World”. STEM leader Blair Hetherington spearheaded the event, which focused on science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM) challenges. The goal was to recreate engineering marvels like the Colosseum in Athens, fostering a collaborative environment for parents and children.
The day was filled with interactive stalls showcasing the impact of technology on learning, all led by Kilmacolm Primary’s young STEM leaders under the guidance of teacher Wendy McKeegan. Pupils like Blair Hetherington took charge in organizing the event and guiding participants through the challenges they faced. Parents joined in the fun, with many expressing their enjoyment of the activities.
Blair, along with other student STEM leaders, played a crucial role in setting challenges that encouraged teamwork and problem solving. Teacher Wendy emphasized the importance of making science engaging and enjoyable for students, especially after the challenges posed by Covid-19. The event aimed to reconnect parents with the school community and highlight the significance of science and technology in education.
Head teacher Simone McCreadie commended the hard work of the pupil STEM leaders, teachers, and parents who participated in the event. The success of
