National Public Health Week is taking place from April 1 to April 7, and one of the events scheduled at UTSA is the Guerra Lecture. This year’s lecture, under the theme “Public Health Journeys: Empowering Communities, Changing Lives,” honors Dr. Fernando A. Guerra, the former director of Metro Health, who was a respected leader in public health and medicine. The panel discussion during the lecture will be led by Theresa De La Haya, senior vice president of community health/clinical representative programs at University Health System.

The panel will include Brian Castrucci, president and CEO of the de Beaumont Foundation; Dr. Lyssa Ochoa, founder of the San Antonio Vascular and Endovascular Clinic; and Phil Beckett, CEO of C3HIE. Each organization represented on the panel is committed to enhancing healthcare in San Antonio and its surrounding communities.

The de Beaumont Foundation focuses on promoting policies and building partnerships to improve public health in communities. The San Antonio Vascular and Endovascular Clinic collaborates with various healthcare providers to create personalized treatment plans for patients. C3HIE offers information services aimed at enhancing the health outcomes of individuals and communities. The panel aims to address important societal challenges and engage faculty, staff, students, and the public in discussions about improving healthcare.
