An 82-year-old is the world’s oldest female hockey player, according to the Guinness Book of Globe Records.

An 82-year-old is the world’s oldest female hockey player, according to the Guinness Book of Globe Records.

Linda Sinrod, of Lorton, Virginia, a former college figure skater who plays in a women’s ice hockey league there, got a nod from the reference book Friday.

“I’ve often been the oldest individual playing so have often been curious as to how old the oldest female hockey player was and at some point as I got to be 80, I checked Guinness Globe Records to see how old the oldest was,” she told the record book. 

The octogenarian was in her late 30s when she helped identified the initially women’s ice hockey group in the Washington, DC region, exactly where she played for ten years — until she decided it was time to hang up her skates.

Nonetheless, at age 67, she returned to the sport and played on an additional group till she turned 75 simply because they asked her to leave.

“Since I am older and hence slower than any one else, it is a lot easier for the opposing players to catch up to me and steal the puck away,” she explained.

That setback didn’t quit her from pursuing her passion for the puck. Following she was kicked off the group, she joined the women’s league for which she at present plays.

To train for hitting the ice, she weight trains twice a week and bikes 3 occasions per week. 

At age 67, Linda Sinrod returned to the sport and played till she turned 75. From there, she joined the women’s league for which she at present plays.

“Except when I am playing ice hockey,” she stated. “Then it is twice a week.”
