The winter high school sports season for the 2023-24 academic year is coming to a close with the announcement of the Elite All-Star teams. Over 80 athletes from the coverage areas of the Binghamton Press & Sun Bulletin, Elmira Star-Gazette, Corning Leader, and Ithaca Journal have been recognized as Elite athletes in their respective sports.
The selections cover a range of sports, including boys basketball, girls basketball, boys wrestling, boys and girls indoor track & field, boys swimming & diving, and boys and girls bowling. Coaches from each sport participated in voting for the top athletes in their region. However, it’s important to note that not all coaches participated in the voting process.
The Greater Binghamton region and the Corning/Elmira/Ithaca region were separately considered for each sport. These selections were based on both coach input and input from the sports departments of the newspapers. The top athletes were chosen based on their outstanding performance throughout the season.
