In the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings, several Wisconsin universities have been recognized for their top-notch graduate programs. A total of over 2,000 programs across the country were evaluated, and the report, published in April for the 2024-25 academic year, ranked programs in fields such as business, education, law, and nursing.

One of the standout performers in this year’s rankings was the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s School of Education, which tied for first overall with Teacher’s College, Columbia University. This was an improvement from last year when they were ranked third overall and second among public universities. Additionally, several Marquette University graduate programs saw improvements on the list. The master’s program in the College of Nursing moved up from 66 to 58, while their law program improved from 134 to 117.

Schools were assessed based on expert opinions and statistical data measuring faculty quality, research output, and post-graduate outcomes. The full list of rankings can be found on the U.S. News website.

In terms of specific program rankings, UW-Madison was ranked at #43 for top business graduate programs and #36 (tie) for top law graduate programs. They also took home first place (tie) for top education graduate programs. Meanwhile
