In the small town of Schkeuditz, in the German state of Saxony, a couple was preparing for their big day. Winnie (31) and Marko (38), after three years together and a romantic engagement, were all set to say “I do” when an unexpected revelation threatened to derail their plans.

Just days before their wedding, Winnie and Marko discovered that Marko had been married in Nuremberg in 2014 and had a daughter from a previous relationship. The couple was devastated by the news and faced uncertainty about their future together.

Determined to get to the bottom of the situation, Winnie reached out to the other woman, who confirmed that she had indeed been married to Marko and lived in Nuremberg at the time of the marriage registration.

The couple needed certain documents, including an extract from Marko’s birth register in his hometown, in order to get married in Poland. When those documents arrived, Winnie was shocked to discover that there was a clerical error on them. The birth and marriage records had been mixed up, causing confusion and frustration for the couple.

Fortunately, it turned out to be just a mistake. The Nuremberg registry office identified the error and corrected the records, allowing Winnie and Marko to proceed with their wedding plans. The couple sees this experience as a humorous anecdote that they will share with their grandchildren in the future.

Despite facing a major hurdle in their relationship, Winnie and Marko’s trust and commitment to each other only grew stronger as they navigated this unexpected challenge together. Their bond has been tested but ultimately strengthened by this incident.
