A new study released by Tel Aviv University, in collaboration with the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), has shed light on a global increase in anti-Semitism. The report highlights that countries with significant Jewish populations, such as the United States, France, United Kingdom, Argentina, Germany, Australia, and Brazil, have seen a sharp rise in anti-Semitic incidents since the conflict in the Middle East began.

Data collected from official sources, Jewish organizations and media platforms shows that anti-Semitic incidents have been on the rise since 2021. The first nine months of 2023 saw a surge in anti-Semitic incidents compared to the same period in 2022. In the US alone, there were approximately 3,500 incidents reported between January and September 2023, with nearly 4,000 cases reported in the last three months of the year. This is an increase from the 3697 incidents reported in 2021.

In France alone there were over 1676 anti-Semitic incidents in 2023 compared to just over 436 incidents in 2019 and over 589 cases reported between January and December after conflict began. Similarly, Germany recorded more than twice as many reports of anti-Semitism in October to December after conflict began compared to January to September of the same year.

The report warns that if anti-Semitic persecution continues it will jeopardize Jewish people’s ability to live normal lives safely and freely. Social media has played a significant role in amplifying these sentiments following October’s attack by Hamas. There has also been an increase
